The carob tree is a long-lived tree, polygamous, lonely or diocese, native to the Mediterranean. It has a brownish brown crust, thin, dense, usually spherical, leaf leaves with 4 to 10 leaflets intact, leathery, light green and glossy above, pale green below, flowers with heavy smell, without petals, small, in axillary or lateral reddish shoots, usually doubles, with a small calyx, greenish, pentalob, five stamens, long in male flowers, short and, as a rule, arid to females or hermaphrodites. It is easily cultivated and thrives in all soils except liquids and deserts. Its fruitiness usually begins in 6-7 years and continues for many years. The ripening of the fruit lasts almost a year, from the autumn of flowering until the end of August of the following year, when the mature fruits begin to fall. It has great ornamental value for public spaces, balconies and courtyards.
