Carnivorous plant of the family of Nepentheacea.Includes 80-100 species of particularly impressive insectivorous plants, common in tropical regions of Asia, Africa and Australia, with more variety in Borneo and Sumatra islands.These are woody perennials or shrubs, the majority of which are climbing plants. Their leaves are flattened stem, like foil, which looks and works like a real leaf. Often the vesicle of nepenthes has vivid colors to resemble remotely blossom, while the interior contains a sugary liquid (nectar) that attracts insects.Due to their ability to feed on insects, these plants can survive in soils poor in nutrients, but need high humidity.Withstands up to 12 degrees Celsius.
